Manual of Elementary Drill 1935 (Light Infantry Drill Pages)

Here are excerpts from the 1935 British drill manual that pertain to the Light Infantry.  Due to their unique roll in the army throughout history and their specialized weapons, the light infantry developed a slightly different drill.  The light infantry’s valuable weapons and need for them to move silently in combat caused the difference in drill.  The most obvious is the fact that the light infantry always marches at the quick and their drill has no slope arms.  They instead march at trail arms and the slope is replaced by the shoulder arms position.
